Beth Ann Garland is a retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant, who served in Iraq during the second Gulf War. Her writing has appeared in the critically acclaimed collection, This Day in the Life: Diaries from Women across America (Three Rivers Press), the Indiana University Alumni Newsletter, the Bedford, Indiana Times Mail newspaper, and the Bloomington, Indiana Herald. She is the author Baghdad Beth, a memoirwhich details her life as a mother and soldier under fire in Iraq, as well as various essays, short stories, poems and songs. Beth holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Indiana University and a Master of Fine Arts in Nonfiction from Southern New Hampshire University. She lives in Arizona with her husband and has two fabulous, grown children.
